Alaska requires educators to pass a basic competency exam as well as passing an approved content area exam.
For initial certification in Alaska, all candidates must:
Earn a baccalaureate degree and participate in a teacher education program
Pass the required assessments
Complete the four Mandatory Trainings
Submit fingerprints
Apply for certification through the Alaska State Department of Education and Early Development
