Virginia requires future educators to take the Praxis tests to achieve licensure. You can review the required tests for your specific licensure area here: https://praxis.ets.org/state-requirements/virginia-tests.html 

• Step 1: Complete a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution and participate in an approved teacher preparation program

  • This must include professional studies and content-area knowledge coursework

• Step 2: Complete required testing

• Step 3: Participate in student teaching

• Step 4: Complete statutory licensure requirements
